Open-source AI assistant that runs on your own machine and works in chat apps
OpenClaw is an open-source personal AI assistant that runs on your own computer. You talk to it from chat apps you already use, such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Signal and iMessage (29 channels, per the website). It can browse the web, fill in forms, read and write files, run shell commands, and handle email and calendar tasks. It remembers your preferences between conversations, and skills and plugins add new abilities.
It runs locally on macOS, Windows and Linux, and state, memory and credentials stay on your hardware. You choose the model: hosted (such as Claude or GPT), subscription-backed or local. iOS and Android apps connect to your own Gateway. A team can share one Gateway.
It is free and MIT licensed, with no paid tier, hosted service or token. It is stewarded by the OpenClaw Foundation, a US 501(c)(3) non-profit. Formerly called Clawd and Moltbot; renamed OpenClaw in January 2026.
