Coding agent that runs in cloud machines, your terminal or your own machines
Amp is a coding agent and development environment made by Amp Frontier Corporation (Amp, Inc.). It uses several AI models, such as GPT-5.6 and Claude Fable 5.1, and picks one for each kind of work.
The agent runs in an orb, a cloud machine Amp creates for each thread with your code and tools set up, so it keeps working after you close your laptop. It can also run on your own computer through the CLI (macOS, Linux, Windows), or on a runner, any machine of yours that runs amp. You use it on the web at ampcode.com, in the terminal, and in apps for Mac, iPhone and iPad (beta). The CLI connects to VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Zed and Neovim.
Hobby is free: orbs are pay as you go, and your own runners are free. Megawatt costs $20 per month with 45,000 orb minutes; Gigawatt costs $200 per month with 480,000. You can use your ChatGPT or Claude subscription or your own API keys with no Amp fees. Team workspaces cost nothing extra. Enterprise has custom pricing.
Amp is not open source.
