Open-source commerce platform and framework for building custom online stores
Medusa is a commerce platform for developers. It has commerce modules (products, carts, orders, inventory, payments, promotions), a framework to add your own API endpoints, data models and workflows, and an admin dashboard for running the store. It supports multiple sales channels, warehouses, regions, currencies and tax rules. It is built on Node.js and PostgreSQL and comes with a Next.js starter storefront.
You can host it yourself or use Medusa Cloud, the maker's hosting. Cloud plans (USD): Develop from $29/mo, Launch from $99/mo, Scale from $299/mo, Enterprise custom. Usage above plan limits costs extra. There is no GMV platform fee.
The core is open source under the MIT licence (open-core model). Enterprise Edition features such as RBAC need a commercial agreement. For AI agents, the maker offers an MCP server, a Cloud CLI, agent skills and a Development Agent.
