Open-source coding agent for the terminal, made by SpaceXSI
Grok Build is SpaceXSI's coding agent. It runs in the terminal as a fullscreen text interface. It reads your codebase, edits files, runs shell commands, searches the web and manages long-running tasks. It also runs headlessly in scripts and CI/CD pipelines, or inside other apps through the Agent Client Protocol (ACP). It has plan mode, subagents in their own git worktrees, skills, plugins, hooks, MCP servers and AGENTS.md files.
Since 21 September 2026 it is powered by Grok 4.7, and you can add any custom model. It installs with one command on macOS, Linux, WSL and Windows. The source code is on GitHub (xai-org/grok-build), written in Rust, under the Apache 2.0 licence.
It is part of The X Subscription, one plan for Grok, Cursor and X (USD per month, before tax): Free $0 (limited use), Plus $8, Premium $30, Super $100, Ultra $200, Teams from $30 per user, Enterprise custom. Grok and Cursor share one weekly usage pool. You can also sign in with an xAI API key.
Developers who want a coding agent in their terminal, for any codebase and any language, from single users to teams and enterprises. It also serves people who script coding tasks in CI/CD pipelines.
Open source under Apache 2.0, and included in X Subscription plans from $8 a month.
Uses xAI's Grok models and shares one weekly usage pool with Cursor in the X Subscription.
